We’ve met construction companies of all shapes and sizes over the past three years – from small general contractors managing a few residential projects to larger builders with infrastructure projects. Regardless of the type of company, one thing is common: implementing a construction management software has been a big challenge. And change management is a big reason behind this challenge. No wonder the construction industry lags behind in terms of going digital.
It has been the Steer team’s mission to help every construction company go digital with their management processes, and that’s why ease of implementation is on top of our priority list when we started designing our platform.
The Steer team has always believed that starting small and starting fast are the secrets to a successful rollout of any construction management software, meaning you introduce one module in one project first before going to another module or another project. Starting small also chops the implementation process into smaller bite-sized initiatives, instead of one massive, long-drawn, and complex implementation project. This way, you can achieve “quick wins” and even celebrate/recognize these little accomplishments.
Starting small also means starting fast. A smaller, simpler module makes it much faster to setup, as well as much easier for end-users (your site supervisors, HQ staff, project managers, etc.) to adopt. Because you’re introducing a simpler tool, you’re effectively lowering the learning curve for end-users and they are able to use the software more readily. Ultimately, your team will get used to these online tools in preparation for rolling out more complex solutions across the entire operations.
And this brings us to the construction daily log, which we recommend as the ideal first solution to rollout in a construction company of any size and type.
Managing construction projects oftentimes require you to do site visits more than once a week, sometimes even every day. If you’re running one or two projects this is easy, but once you more than 3 projects, this particular activity gets exponentially harder. Enter the construction daily log.
The construction daily log provides updates on activities in each job site and visualizes these updates through a quick-glance dashboard. This ultimately empowers construction executives to get all the information they need to make timely decisions – and at the same time reduce the number of on-site visits.
As mentioned, our Daily Activity Log is an easy-to-use construction daily log software and we are letting every construction company use 100% FREE (no credit card required). We made this tool to be very easy to use – so much so that it takes just a few minutes to setup and a few minutes to submit your first log!
The Steer Daily Log is divided into two parts: 1) gathering of daily updates from the construction site and 2) presenting the report in a dashboard or weekly report.
Our mobile app (which you can download for iOS and Android after you’ve created your account) lets on-site team members submit the following each day: hourly weather updates, completed tasks, and manpower, and upload progress photos as well as document issues encountered and actions taken, equipment usage, and site visitors.
These daily logs are then compiled in the form of graphs and charts which you can access on our dashboard (found in our web portal). Furthermore, these daily logs can be consolidated into a weekly report – which you can then save as PDF or print – to share with other stakeholders who are not on Steer.
The Steer team has a vision of empowering every construction company to manage projects online. This vision can become real by simply having everyone use the Daily Activity Log – free of charge. We understand that the Daily Activity Log on its own is a valuable tool for staying in control over construction projects, but we also want to lower the barrier for construction companies to go digital. That’s why we’re making the Daily Activity Log 100% free, so companies like yours can jumpstart digitizing construction management. After you’ve successfully rolled out the Daily Activity Log, you will have the option to implement the other modules inside Steer or simply continue using that one solution. Either way, our vision will be realized.
